And unruly.

#MyThoughts

I must confess. I am really bad at knowing when it is a series or a standalone or just one book. I just start reading and realise what it is when I finish the book. And this time was not different.

I read the synopsis for Always and I knew I had to read it right away. It was one of the best decision I have made over the past months. Plus, one not-plot-related thing I loved was that I did not have to wait about-one-year-more-or-less for the second book... and then for the next one. So, that was a big point in favour. And although I thought Revere was the last book, I am not complaining for this amazing three-books series. At all.

Unruly was the best closure there could be for Cross and Catty's love story. And this was also the book where I could finally come to terms with her. I was not a big fan of her existence in the first two books. Because I felt she was always hurting Cross. And I love him. I fell in love with him from the very beginning. He is in my top-twenty book boyfriends.

Anyways, this book comes to confirm, ratify and prove that their love is forever. As far as I am concerned. And it is also when Catherine finally becomes who she was meant to be. Hence, why I like her now. Plus, I guess that as any other Bethany-Kris book, there are many twists, turns, ups and downs that you never could have imagined. Because, ladies and gentlemen, this series is not all peaches and cream. So there are scenes that may make you hold your breath and think what the.... Now, they have new and bigger responsibilities with each other and with other people. Their lives were, are, and always will be in some kind of risky situations due to their jobs. But now they face those situations with an incredible and more serious position. Alone and together.

I do not want to ruin this book/series for anybody so I will just say that I highly recommend it. If you have not read Cross + Catherine series, read it. Or if you are still with Revere, finish it and read Unruly. I have so many mixed feelings about their story. I cannot wait to read more about them in other stories/books.
Book: +5 unruly stars!

#Excerpt

Cross barely made it through the front door of his parents’ Newport home before the stomping started.
Click, click, click, click.

Like goddamn plastic hammers hitting the floor one right after the other. All he saw was a tiny human-shaped tornado with wild brown curls coming his way before his three-year-old daughter crashed into his legs.
“Daddy!”
Cross’s hand skimmed overtop the crown of his daughter’s head as she peered up at him with a beautiful, toothy smile. Girlish, child-like features that matched her mother’s looked back. Her big soul-brown eyes were all him, though.
That, and her attitude.
Damn, though, he loved his little girl. She was everything that was bright, beautiful, and perfect in his life. That, and her mother. Cecelia “Cece” Donati made her way into the world on the second of September just two years into his and Catherine’s marriage. She had not exactly been planned, but they hadn’t prevented anything, either. Oh, he adored his child beyond measure. Nothing was more perfect than her angel face when she looked at him. The rest of the world ceased to exist.
Cece blinked up at him, smiling impossibly wider. “Hi, Daddy!”
Her little feet stomped in her excitement, making that damn clicky noise against the hard wood once more. He tried to get her to wear mini Doc Martens. His girl wanted heels like her mother.
No one would ever know how difficult and irritating it was to drive from one side of New York to the other looking for toddler girl shoes with something resembling a heel. A heel that was not too high, if barely there at all, yet visible enough to satisfy his daughter, while also sounding like heels.
She wore them all the time.
It was the end of November, and she was still wearing them.
“I see someone put the clicky shoes back on,” Cross said.
Cece beamed. “Grandpapa.”
“Mmhmm.”
Calisto rounded the kitchen entryway and came in their direction. “She wanted them on, son.”
“Where’s Ma?” Cross asked.
“Packing up Cece’s things.”
“Ah.”
Cece tugged on her father’s pants with a firm hand. “Daddy?”
Instantly, Cross was on his knees. He drifted his fingers through his daughter’s waist-length brown waves as she grabbed his face in both her tiny hands.
“What, mia topina?”
It was a horrible nickname for her.
She was nothing like a little mouse.
Not at all quiet.
She still loved it.
He kept using it.
“Cary has baby brudder,” Cece said.
Cross chuckled. “Does he?”
Cary, a four year old neighbor that lived across the street from his parents’ home, regularly came to play with Cece when she was with her grandparents.
“Yes, and I wants one, too.”
Cross tried to hide his smirk as he looked up at the ceiling. “That’s not really how it works, Cece.”
“I wants one, too, Daddy!”
Did he mention his daughter was spoiled?
Because she was.
Entirely.

“We can get a brudder at the shop,” Cece said matter-of-fact.
“First, you can’t go to the store and get a baby brother. We don’t shop for siblings, Cece. That’s not how it works.”
“Can, too. Grandmamma says! I wants one, Daddy.”
Calisto cleared his throat from his position leaning against the wall. “Yes, Cross, go get her a baby brother from the shop.”
Oh, for fuck’s sake.
He shot his father a glare over his daughter’s shoulder, silently shouting for the man to shut up. Once Cece got her mind made up on something, she was having it no matter what anyone said. She also learned pretty early on that her parents weren’t very good at telling her no.
“We can get a brudder at the shop, Daddy.”
“No, you can’t, but—”
“I’s telling Ma.”
Yes, his daughter’s best defense when she was told no by her father was to go to her mother. Or vice versa. At this moment, that absolutely worked for Cross.
“You tell Ma, then.”
Cece’s eyes narrowed. “I wills!”
“Okay,” he said seriously.
His daughter huffed, and stomped a heeled foot to the floor once more before she turned and darted back down the hall. Over her shoulder, he heard her say, “Gonna has a baby brudder.”

The Sweetheart Sham by Danielle Ellison!

Title: The Sweetheart Sham
Author: Danielle Ellison
Series: Southern Charmed #1
Publication Date: December 4, 2017
Publisher: Entangled Teen: Crush

In a small town like Culler, South Carolina, you guard your secrets like you guard your cobbler recipe: with your life. Georgia Ann Monroe knows a thing or two about secrets: she’s been guarding the truth that her best friend Will is gay for years now. But what happens when a little white lie to protect him gets her into a fake relationship…and then the boy of her dreams shows up?

Enter Beau Montgomery: Georgie’s first love, hotter than ever, and much too much of a southern gentleman to ever pursue someone else’s girl. There’s no way to come clean to Beau while still protecting Will. But bless their hearts, they live in Culler—where secrets always have a way of revealing themselves.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains a hilarious “fakeship,” a scorching-hot impossible relationship, and a heartwarming best-friendship that will make you want to call your best friend right here, right now.

#MyThoughts

I must confess that I have just understood the meaning of the title. And it was because I looked it up. I know, I should have known when I read the title but! When English is not your mother tongue, you just let things like this go unnoticed... Anyways, it has a looooot to do with the plot. It is definitely a clue. #justsaying

The Sweetheart Sham has everything I like in a good young adult romance. Love, drama, secrets, jealousy, and drama! Will, Georgie, and Beau. Their lives have always been intertwined. Best Friends. Everything. Sadly, not always things stay like we want. Specially for G&B.

Living in a small town has its pros y contras. And Georgie knows it first hand. So when his best friend asks her to keep his secret and help him, she accepts. Because... BFF. However, she never expected for "the boy of her dreams" to come back after having left her without a single word. And seeing him again just proves to her that she is not over him ---although she may say otherwise. Beau never wanted to break Georgie's heart. But life sometimes takes very strange twists and turns. Now he is back and he is not sure if it was for better or for worse. Because it seems there have been some changes in his old small town.

Georgie is between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, one of her best friends. On the other, the boy she may be still in love with. And she knows she cannot tell anyone her best friend's secret. Because it is his secret not hers. And because she is just too loyal to him --something I really like about her.

And then, there is Beau. He is back (for a while) and he did not think he still wanted Georgie until he saw her. But she is not his anymore. And maybe, it would be better if he just accepts that he has lost her. However, his heart does not seem to be hearing what his brain says.

I loved it. This is one of those books I seriously highly recommend. It is just amazing. An excellent plot with two main characters that will just made you fall in love with their love story. If you like YA romance, read it. If you like teen drama, read it. If you like/love books, read it. It is a cute and lovely second chance romance <3.

Book: +4.5 second-chances stars!

#Excerpt
“Beau Montgomery, what on earth!” someone, I think it’s Will’s mom, says with a squeal. I can’t single it out because my heart seems to stop beating.

Everyone scoots toward the patio entrance and gathers around. Will drops my hand to move closer.

And then I see him.

He’s standing behind Mrs. M next to his dad, a big smile on his face, and he’s tall. Real tall. His dark hair is longer and nearly falling into his hazel eyes, definitely a length that Orry won’t like much. His jaw is strong, some muscles pressing under his polo. He looks nothing like the boy I remember.

And suddenly I’m a little self-conscious. What am I wearing today? I can’t even remember. I could look down but that would mean looking away from him, and then maybe when I look back he won’t be there. I don’t know if he even sees me, but I see him. Clearly. After more than twoyears of nothing.

“Beau, is that you, boy?” Orry calls. Beau steps around the rest of the family toward his grandpa. He’s closer now, and I can get a better look at his face. My eyes explore his features and rest on his lips, which break out into a small smile and—Dang, is it hot out here?

“Hello, Granddad.” Orry pulls him into a hug and Beau has to lean over to reach him properly. Orry looks like a kid in his arms.

Cheese and rice, even his voice is sexy. Deeper but still with a familiar feeling that it stirs up in me, and an accent with a hint of Georgia twang instead of South Carolina cadence.

I like it. Lord help me, I like it.

Orry holds him out at arm’s length and examines him before giving him a pat on the shoulder. “You look more like your daddy than I expected. How tall are you?”

“Six one, sir,” Beau says.

“You look good, grandson, real good. Atlanta treating you well?”

“Yes, sir, it is.”

I want to move, but I can’t. My feet are stuck to the ground, not that I should move anyway. I don’t reckon I trust myself around him. Especially not right now when I’m not sure if I want to hug him or kick him somewhere that would hurt. I’d do a good job of it too and make darn sure my kick was as painful as him not showing up that night.

“When’s your momma coming?” Mrs. M asks him.

“Not until closer to the wedding,” he says.

I watch as Will hugs him. They’re both smiling, and it reminds me of before when he was here. They were inseparable—we were—and now I’m just standing here like an idiot. Which I am. Will looks in my direction, and then Beau’s eyes are on me, too. It’s even worse when he’s looking at me, especially now with a hidden glimmer in them. It’s not how he said hello to the others; it’s almost like his eyes hadn’t seen me before, and now he’s hyperaware. Just like I’ve been since his dad yelled his name.

He takes a step toward me.

 Saving It by Monica Murphy!

Title: Saving It
Author: Monica Murphy
Publication Date:
November 6, 2017
Publisher: Entangled Teen Crush

Eden: Josh Evans and I have been best friends forever. He knows all my secrets, and I know all of his. So when he randomly asks me to help him lose his virginity, I sort of flip out. That’s a question that sends your mind to places you’ve seriously never considered before. Like, you know. Having sex. With your best friend. Except Josh doesn’t want to have sex with me—he wants me to help him find a girl. A nice girl who’s funny and smart and cute. Except he already knows a girl just like that…

Josh: Eden Sumner is my best friend. So of course she’d be the person to help me find my perfect match, so I can drop my V card before I head off to college. Except the more we search, the more I realize that maybe the right girl has been by my side all along. I don’t need Eden’s help in finding me a girl to love. I’m pretty sure I’m already in love with Eden. But now she thinks I’m only after one thing…with anyone but her.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book is what happens when American Pie meets Friends with Benefits. It contains two best friends, plenty of angst, and lots and lots of sex talk. Reading this might have you looking at your best friend in a different light!

#MyThoughts

#FanGirlModeOn:
I do not think I could tell you which one was my first Monica's book (because it was a long time ago). But yes, I have read many of them. And they are amazing <3. Anyway, it had been a long time (a couple of weeks). But I still remember it.

Saving It is my kind of cute teen romance. I think the one thing I loved most above all was how they tried to deny and pretend nothing was happening -when everything was happening <3. The evolution of their friendship was amazing. They learnt to be a little more "open" with each other. Although without confessing what was really in their minds.

So, Josh's reasons for losing his V-card lead him to ask for help. And who is better than his BFF? Nobody. Most of the time he was cute when trying to talk about it. And of course, as his BFF, Eden did not make it any easier for him. Eden --with every minute that passed, she realized it was inevitable.

Its plot is the result of a young friends-to-something-more friendship. Eden and Josh. And as I was saying, I though it was cute how both characters developed feelings in a way they knew would lead to a change in their relationship. The idea of considering to be the one for each other? It make it harder for them to be objective when it comes to their friendship. But at the end of the day, how they solve it was the best they could do. Love it!

 Offsetting Penalties by Ally Mathews!

Title: Offsetting Penalties
Author: Ally Mathews
Publication Date:
November 6, 2017
Publisher: Entangled Teen Crush

Isabelle Oster has dreamed of being a prima ballerina her entire life, so when the only male dancer backs out of the fall production, she’s devastated. Without a partner, she has no hope of earning a spot with the prestigious Ballet Americana company. Until hot jock Garret practicing stretches in one of the studios gives Izzy an idea, and she whips out her phone. But does she really want this badly enough to resort to blackmail?

All-state tight end Garret Mitchell will do anything to get a college football scholarship. Even taking ballet, which surprisingly isn’t so bad, because it means he gets to be up close and personal with the gorgeous Goth girl Izzy while learning moves to increase his flexibility. But Izzy needs him to perform with her for the Ballet Americana spot, and he draws the line at getting on stage. Especially wearing tights.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains a bit of blackmail, a lot of sarcasm, and an ending guaranteed to melt your heart.

#MyThoughts

I admire someone who dance ballet. I do not think I would have their patience when it comes to improving a position... #justsaying

I think I have a not-so-secret love for cute young adult romance books. They are lovely, and sometimes, they are also what you need to relax while reading. Plus, I did enjoy reading Offsetting Penalties.

This book has two amazing characters who --I can assure you-- have crystal-clear what they want to do with their lives. And they both want to do what they love most --football and ballet. Hence, no matter what, they are ready to do whatever it takes in order to make them come true. Furthermore, Izzy has a soft spot even if she does not want people to know it. So, when it comes to blackmailing others? I will just say that she is better at dancing. Garret... oh boy! He got the moves. I could definitely picture him dancing ballet.

Overall, this book is a clear demonstration that you do not have to judge someone for their exterior. And despite the fact that there was a moment/scene -almost at the end- when I felt it was too forced. It was an amazing reading and plot.

Highly recommended.

The Real Thing by Melissa Foster!

Title: The Real Thing

 Sugar Lake #1
Publication Date:

This sassy, spirited baker is fine with heat—but is her fake fiancé too hot to handle?

Bakery owner Willow Dalton’s friendship with Zane Walker has always been a bit complicated. Now a scrumptiously hot A-list actor, Zane’s always had a reputation as a player. He’s arrogant, and he’s definitely not boyfriend material. Sure, he did Willow a favor by agreeing to take her virginity before college, but is that reason enough to go along with a fake engagement a decade later—even if it comes with a real diamond ring?

Zane should have known better. Nothing involving Willow has ever been easy. Still, he knows her better than anyone, and becoming America’s hottest new leading man means cleaning up his reputation. An “engagement” to curvy, sass-mouthed Willow is the perfect PR move . . . provided no one gets hurt.

Now Zane and Willow’s little white lie has turned into an irresistible recipe for sweet temptation. And soon no one will be able to tell the difference between their fake engagement or the real thing—including them.

**THE REAL THING is being published by Montlake (an Amazon imprint) and won’t be available on other ebook retailers, but you can download a FREE e-reader app to read it HERE, order the paperback.

#MyThoughts

Most of the time, when it is a non-fantasy romance book, I prefer the perfect mix of cute + hot. The guy giving the hot factor, and their relationship being the cute element to the story. However, it does not mean there are not bitter-books I have loved during my life (they are fewer but the best!). Anyways...

Melissa did a magnificent job. And although the fake-engagement is... not too impressive or new, Willow and Zane's story is totally and indisputably fascinating. It got me from the first to the last word without a break, plus it has the perfect amount of pages --not too short, not too long.

Their relationship could be described as complicated and a little tangled due to some facts. But they know well-enough the other to ask for good/weird favors that no-body but them could do. Moreover, their lives seem to be always getting them together no matter what, and their chemistry is irrefutable. So, yes, they have always been made for each other. Furthermore, they are lovely. What more could you ask for?

To sum it all up, this romance should definitely be in your TBR list. A cute, lovely, romance that I highly recommend. Melissa you have done it again! Congratulations.
